Mother’s Day is the perfect chance to spoil our Mums or motherly figures, the way they spoiled us! We’ve put together five tips to help you make sure your Mum feels the love this Mother's Day.

From Pancakes to Mimosas

1. Serve her a special breakfast

Set your alarm early and start the day with a delicious Mother’s Day breakfast. Whether you are serving breakfast in bed or are surprising her with a beautifully set table, Mum will be touched by the effort you put into it. Your spread should include all her favourite treats, like pancakes, fresh fruit, eggs or pastries, as well as her preferred drinks, whether that’s coffee, tea, or a cheeky Mimosa!

If you’re searching for a recipe that is nutritious, delicious and easy to make, try this Strawberry & Banana Smoothie Bowl.

Ingredients (makes 2):

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 3 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup milk of choice (use plant-based milk to make this recipe vegan)
  • Fresh fruit to garnish (we used fresh banana and fresh strawberries)
  • Toppings of Choice (we used granola, chia seeds and coconut)

Method:

Add milk and frozen fruit to your blender and blend until smooth. Transfer to the Nachtmann Ethno Bowl and top with granola, chia seeds, coconut and fresh fruit of choice.

2. Gift her a bunch of beautiful flowers

One of the most popular ways to wish Mum a Happy Mother's Day is with a bouquet of fresh flowers. There are many colours, types and presentation styles to choose from and if you’re not sure what Mum likes, it can be challenging to know where to start. You can ask your local florist for help or simply select one of these options that are sure to impress Mum:

  • Roses are a universal symbol of love so gifting Mum a bouquet of white or pink roses is the perfect choice when it comes to expressing your love and appreciation.
  • Chrysanthemums are considered the traditional Mother's Day flower in Australia as they naturally season in Autumn. You can buy them cut to add to your bouquet or as potted plants for Mums who love adding some colour to their backyard.
  • Lillies come in a variety of beautiful colours and styles and make a gorgeous statement on your Mother's Day brunch table. Just don’t forget to consider if she has pets as these are lethal for animals!
  • Potted plants are a great choice if you are looking for a long-lasting gift. If she’s a passive gardener, choose something that is easy to maintain and can be kept inside for her to enjoy all day long.

Shake up something special

3. Make a delicious cocktail

''

Mum deserves to be celebrated all year round, but Mother’s Day is a particularly good reason to shake up something special. Serve Mum a cocktail that brings some extra flair by adding some special ingredients or beautiful cocktail garnish like edible flowers, fresh fruit or a special salt rim. We recommend this pretty-in-pink Cherry Mint Gin & Tonic, which is full of fruit flavours, and rich botanicals and is topped with a beautiful yet simple garnish.

Ingredients:

  • 5 Blueberries
  • 1 Spring of Mint
  • Lime Zest
  • 30 ml Gin
  • 10 ml Lime Juice
  • 50 ml Cherry Juice
  • 100 ml Tonic Water

Method:

Add blueberries and ice to the Nachtmann Gin & Tonic glass, followed by lime zest, gin, lime juice and cherry juice. Add in mint spring and top up with Tonic water.

4. Share a bottle of her favourite wine

''

If you want to go the extra mile for Mum this year, surprise her with a quality bottle of her favourite wine variety, from her favourite winery or wine region. Something Mum will appreciate even more than the wine itself is sharing it with you. Here are some cute ideas that will make sharing a bottle extra special:

  • Outdoor picnic: What better way to spend the day with Mum than by organising a special wine-centred picnic? Head somewhere gorgeous and spend the afternoon enjoying a bottle and a grazing board that would make any food Instagrammer proud.
  • At-home Paint & Sip: Purchase some canvases, paint, and some creativity-inspiring snacks. And don’t forget to bring a healthy dose of humour depending on your skill level (or maybe skip straight to the paint-by-numbers canvases).
  • Set up your own wine and food tasting: For a delicious activity Mum will remember, add a couple of extra bottles to the mix and experiment with some recommended food options. Test hard vs soft cheeses, different types of chocolate, or even some outlandish pairings to trial. Put at least two alongside each wine and share your opinions.
  • Movie night: Movie nights never lose their charm. Find a movie the two of you have always loved, have always wanted to see or haven’t watched in a while, and don’t forget to have plenty of snacks and that favoured bottle of wine.

Relaxation at its best

5. Turn her bathroom into her very own Spa

A Day Spa is a great way to spoil Mum on her special day but it often comes with a hefty price tag. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, an at-home day spa experience can be the perfect way for Mum to relax and unwind in the comfort of her own home! Set the mood from the moment Mum sets foot through the door and create a relaxing atmosphere with these easy steps:

  • Get the right flair by lighting some candles and dimming or turning off the main light
  • Play some relaxing music for an authentic spa atmosphere
  • Pop open a bottle of Mum’s favourite sparkling and serve some chocolate-covered strawberries
  • Add some essential oils to a diffuser for a truly relaxing atmosphere
  • Pour her a hot bubble bath and add her favourite body wash & shampoo to a dispenser
  • Make sure she has everything she needs: something to read, fresh towels, refreshments and anything else to make your spa complete like a face mask, exfoliating scrub or hair treatments
